Getting Started

Choose your tracking year and currency, name your account, and enter its opening balance. Then record deposits and withdrawals using their bank posting dates. Your daily balances, monthly summaries, and charts update automatically.

For accurate results, enter every posted transaction from the beginning of your tracking year, including bank fees and interest credited or debited. For another account or year, use a fresh copy of the blank template.

Understanding Your Results

Completed months use every calendar day in that month. Current-month calculations include today and reflect the transactions you have entered so far. Today’s balance and the current monthly average may change as you add more transactions.

Days without activity carry forward the previous balance. Negative balances remain visible, helping you identify periods when the recorded account balance fell below zero.

What This Template Does Not Do

• Connect to your bank: transactions must be entered manually.
• Calculate interest charges or bank fees: it tracks balances and averages, rather than applying bank-specific rates or rules.
• Guarantee minimum-balance compliance: your bank may use a different statement period or balance requirement.
• Forecast future balances: future-dated transactions are excluded.
• Convert currencies: the currency setting labels your amounts; it does not perform exchange-rate conversions.
• Replace bookkeeping software: deposits and withdrawals represent account movements, not necessarily business income, expenses, or profit.

The template uses calendar months, so its average may differ from an average calculated over your bank’s statement cycle.
