Tracking annual leave can sometimes be confusing, especially when you’ve joined in the middle of the year or already taken some days off. That’s why an Annual Leave Calculator helps simplify everything by breaking it down into accrued leave, leave taken, and carry forward leave.

Step 1: Pro-Rata / Total Leave Accrued (Current Period Only)

If you’ve worked the full year, you are entitled to the full annual leave entitlement.
If you’ve worked fewer than 12 months, your entitlement is calculated proportionally (pro-rata).

Step 2: Leave Taken

This is simply the number of days you’ve already taken during the period.

Step 3: Current-Period Balance (Before Carry Forward)

To know how many days you still have left (excluding any carry forward leave), subtract your taken days from accrued leave.

Step 4: Total Available Leave (After Carry Forward)

Finally, you add any carry forward leave from the previous period to get the total leave available.
